Biopsy in the Imaging Department

Basics of biopsies will be discussed, as well as indications and contraindications. Information for education for patients is reviewed regarding the procedure. Basic complications as well as postoperative care information is included for appropriate patient care.

Drain Basics

This module reviews the indications and specific considerations for different types of drains placed in the Imaging Department.  Complications and post-insertion drain care are discussed, as well as education for the patient.

  • Describe indications and contraindications
    for drain placement.
    Identify normal versus abnormal drainage.
  • Describe tube care and maintenance.
  • Differentiate the purposes of different types
    of drainage tubes.
