Course Description

This presentation will focus on areas of high risk/high prevalence as well as high risk/low prevalence sources of infection. Healthcare has come a long way in identifying and developing treatment methods for these infections, but what about the "what ifs' coming in the future. Infections in any patient setting are dangerous and costly; both to patients, families, healthcare facilities and payors. It behooves all of us to act in a responsible manner to decrease, or even eliminate infections of any origin. This presentation will focus on preventing infections and dealing with infections in the imaging environment. It will review the well known blood borne pathogens as well as the lesser thought of role that point of care testing plays in the infectious process.
