Acute abdominal and pelvic pain is the most common presenting symptom in emergency departments today. Adult women form a particularly important subset of these patients and pose a particular clinical challenge for diagnosis. Discussion topics include optimal ultrasound techniques for assessment, with emphasis on the endovaginal scan.
